Who we are:
All parents/guardians of The High School of Art & Design students are automatically members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
Mission of the PTA:
The Art & Design High School PTA, Inc. is an organization whose purpose is to strengthen, enhance and encourage the educational environment of The High School of Art & Design by providing additional opportunities for parents/guardians, teachers and students to learn, socialize, communicate and grow.
What does the PTA do?
Build community with events like Fanfaire, bake sales, workshops and more
Encourage The HIgh School of Art and Design teachers to reach out to us for assistance in supplies, field trips, shows, and more
Support our school during open houses, school events, college related field trips, senior luncheons, and more
Enhance student learning and enrich the lives of the students within the school by building a partnership between parents and educators
Raise money for our school
What is the School Leadership Team (SLT)?
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of people who develop educational policies for their school. They also make sure there are resources to support those policies.
What does the SLT do?:
- Provide ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement.
- Play an important role in school-based decision-making
- Help to make school cultures more collaborative.
Who are the SLT members?
There are three members of the school community who must be members of the SLT:
- Parent Association/Parent-Teacher Association President
- United Federation of Teachers Chapter Leader
The other members are elected parents and staff members. The SLT must have an equal number of parents and staff.

The High School of Art & Design is located at 245 East 56th Street, New York, NY 10022 between 2nd and 3rd Avenues (closer to 2nd Avenue). It shares space with two other schools.
