Letter from the PTA President

Dear Parents, Guardians and Members of the Art and Design community,

We hope you are all well and healthy. Certainly, we are facing a major public health crisis and global pandemic as well as uncharted territory in terms of response.

The situation is changing daily. It’s hard to know where we will be not only week to week, but day by day.

As you may know, the DOE has cancelled all field trips, extra curricular, PTA events and meetings, PSAL, and more. At the time we are writing this, schools are still open.

Understandably, there is heightened anxiety and concern about the health and safety for our entire community. We are grateful for the dedication of our teachers, administration, custodians, support staff, and all those who amidst this chaos are there for our students and are doing all they can to follow the protocols and keep our children healthy. Teachers are preparing for remote learning should that need arise.

Unless the Mayor reaches a decision to close schools, we believe that parents should do what they feel is best for their children. We do acknowledge that keeping children home, whether it’s through personal choice or school closures will not be easy, and for some, it will be extremely challenging.

The PTA would like our families to know that they can reach out to us should they find themselves in need during any future school closures. We may be limited in what we can do, but we will do our best to serve as a resource and support for you and especially our incredible students.
